ISHS Acta Horticulturae 141: II International Symposium on Carnation Culture

ABSENCE OF INDUCTION OF PHYTOALEXINS AND RESISTANCE IN CARNATION BY THE SELECTIVE HERBICIDE OXADIAZON

Authors:   P. RICCI, G. ROUSSE
Abstract:
The herbicide oxadiazon, an abiotic elicitor of phytoalexins in Bean, showed no phytotoxicity on Carnation up to 1 gl-1 and induced neither resistance to Phytophthora parasitica, the agent of collar rot, nor accumulation of the two known phytoalexins of Carnation : dianthalexin and "substance 6". The relation between phytotoxicity and eliciting activity is discussed.
