RESISTANCE OF POME FRUIT VARIETIES TO FIREBLIGHT (ERWINIA AMYLOVORA) IN THE FED. REP. OF GERMANY |

| Abstract:
Since 1974 first studies on fireblight resistance of 46 pome fruit varieties have been undertaken in the affected region of Schleswig-Holstein in the Fed. Rep. of Germany under natural and artificial infection conditions. With the pome fruits, 2 from 17 pear varieties 'Alexandre Lucas' and 'Beurré Hardy' were rated as resistant, the other varieties being moderately to highly susceptible. The 29 apple varieties tested showed, in general, a marked higher degree of resistance, 8 being rated as resistant under north European climatic conditions: 'Martini', 'Finkenwerder', 'Golden Delicious', 'Ontario', 'Herbstprinz', 'Jonagold', 'Ingol' and 'Jamba'. | |
