ISHS Acta Horticulturae 14: Symposium on Flower Regulation in Florist Crops

INTERRUPTED BUD FORMATION IN SPRAY CHRYSANTHEMUMS-SHAPE AND QUALITY OF THE INFLORESCENCE

Author:   J.W.H. van Veen
Abstract:
The division into spray and standard chrysanthemums is of course only a practical one. The work, with a number of physiological properties of the chrysanthemums, especially in the beginning of the period of bud formation is the same in both groups. To obtain the maximum effect it is however important to know which cultural method will be followed. It is important whether the interruption is given early or late in the period of flower bud initiation. This is because the initiations of the terminal bud and the lateral buds are not in the same time.
