FLOWER STERILITY IN ALMOND

Author:   R. Socías
Abstract:
Morphological female sterility and presence of twin flowers were assessed along the blooming period in three almond (Prunus amygdalus Batsch) cultivars. There was a general trend, with cultivar differences, to increase the percentage of sterile and twin flowers with time, indicating that for fruit-setting purposes the most important point in time is the onset of the blooming period, where fertile flowers prevail.
