EFFECTS OF CEPA ON THE POST HARVEST RIPENING OF OLIVES |

| Abstract:
An attempt was made to test the possibility of influencing fruit ripening in olives, using pre-harvest CEPA treatments at 2000 ppm on olive trees of the cultivar Leccino, with subsequent storage of the drupes for periods of 7,14,21 and 28 days. CEPA treatments were carried out on two dates: 17 November and 30 December 1981, at the beginning and during the normal harvest period, respectively. Storage of fruit and CEPA treatments during low fruit drop (0,6%), did not influence the oil filling process, while positive effects were obtained at the end of December when ripening had reached a more advanced stage and fruit drop was more than 10%. It seem that CEPA treatment on the second date advanced maturity, stimulating oil accumulation during the pre-harvest period. | |
