EFFECT OF GROWTH REGULATORS ON BRANCHING HABIT OF SOME APPLE CULTIVARS IN THE NURSERY
|
| Author: | G. Johann |
Abstract:
The side shoot production of one-year-old apple trees from two different nurseries (cvs. 'Gloster' and 'Boskoop') was promoted by application of the growth regulators M&B 25–105 and PROMALIN. There was only little effect of M&B 25–105 on the branch angles of the nursery trees, whereas treatment with PROMALIN led to narrow angles.
A combined application of both compounds resulted in the production of a high number of side shoots and wider angles compared to treatments with PROMALIN alone.
All treatments - especially PROMALIN - increased the number of leaves per plant and the total assimilation area per tree.
