Abstract:
Considering the lack of fruit set as one of the most serious problems in sweet cherry cultivars growing in Arteaga Coahuila México, trees of the cultivars Bing, French and Royal were treated with a range of growth regulators at pink stage, full bloom and petal fall with the purpose of increasing fruit retention.
The effects of these treatments on fruit set of the three cultivars were as follows: PP341 (1.0 g/1) > UAAAN cocktail (0.5 g/1) > chlorophenoxyacetic acid (100 ppm)> AVG (200 ppm) > Alar (2000 ppm) > Promalin (200 ppm) > Control.
The relevance of these results to the process of fruit set in sweet cherry is discussed.
