Abstract:
In darkness as well as in the light the endogenous ethylene production of Aechmea plants in very low and almost constant throughout its vegetative development.
In the light the ethylene production is significantly higher than than in darkness.
Exogenous ACC is coverted into ethylene by all plants and this conversion seems to be enhanced by light.
Flowering maturity of Aechmea victoriana is always correlated to the capacity of the plant to convert high amounts of ACC into etylene.
