INTERACTION BETWEEN CHLORMEQUAT (CCC) AND GIBBERELLIN (GA3) ON GROWTH, FLOWERING AND MINERAL CONSTITUENTS OF SOME ORNAMENTAL PLANTS

Authors:   A.M. Hamza, M.N.M. Helaly
Abstract:
CCC and GA3 had opposite effects on plant growth and development. In plants of Matthiola and Althaea CCC decreased plant height, inflorescence and peduncle length and increased number of lateral shoots, inflorescence, and flowers. CCC led also to accumulation of N, P, and K in the shoots of both plant species. GA3 increased shoot growth and had no effect on number of inflorescences and flowers. Applied at a concentration of 60 mg/l, GA3 nullified the effect of CCC on shoot growth, time of flowering and mineral constituents. CCC increased growth as well as mineral constituents and hastened flowering. GA3 showed an additive effect to that of CCC in this respect.
