EFFECT OF SALICYLIC ACID AND SOME GROWTH REGULATORS ON THE STOMATAL RESISTANCE OF PEPPER SEEDLING LEAVES

Abstract:
This experiment was carried out to determine the effect of gibberellic acid (GA3), ethrel (CEPA), alar (B-9) and cycocel (CCC), (100, 500 and 1000 ppm), and salicylic acid (SA), (100, 200, 400 and 800 ppm), on stomatal resistance of pepper seedling leaves.

SA treatments at 400 and 800 ppm; CEPA at 1000 ppm increased the stomatal resistance of leaves significantly. These results were obtained after 24 hours of treatment and also during 5 days after treatment.

GA3 at all concentrations reduced the stomatal resistance and 100 ppm was the most effective concentration both after 24 hours and in 5 days after treatment. B-9 at 100 and 500 ppm and CCC at all concentrations reduced the stomatal resistance of leaves significantly after 24 hours of treatment.
