Abstract:
Metazachlor can be used selectively in transplanted cabbage varieties.
Herbicide-sensitive crops like cauliflower and kohlrabi on sandy soils lacking in humus, may react to application rates exceeding 1.0 kg/ha a. i. by slight growth retardations.
In irrigated crops the application rate of metazachlor should not exceed 0.75 kg/ha a. i. to 1.25 kg/ha a. i., depending on humus content and soil type.
With these rates of application, the weed species predominant in vegetable crops are well controlled, e.g.
Chenopodium album, Echinochloa crus-galli, Galinsoga parviflora, Lamium spp., Matricaria chamomilla, Polygonum spp., Senecio vulgaris, Stellaria media, Urtica urens.
