Abstract:
The development of low-priced microcomputer hardware has promoted their use in horticulture as climacomputers as well as office machines for bookkeeping, accounting and other support of daily management.
Hardware and software in all applications are still in an initial stage and have to be improved considerably.
Nevertheless, this paper will discuss three possible (necessary) new developments for the following reasons:
- New developments should incooperate the goal of easy data exchange and data transfer between farms and extension service;
- the engeneering of climacomputers should be able to provide the necessary links to planning and accounting computers;
- Biologists and Economists should see the opportunities given by stored climadata to forecast dangerous population developments of pests and infectious diseases.
