Abstract:
The Dutch open air vegetable sector is a very complicated one.
It consists of a wide range of crops, which figure on a wide range of farm types.
To get more clearness in the structure of the sector the cropping schemes of the holdings with open air vegetables are analysed by means of correspondence-analysis.
According to the results of this analysis the holdings concerned are classified in homogeneous groups (farm types).
In the second part of the investigation the factors, which are decisive for the survival of the different farm types, are traced by means of parametric linear programming.
Simultaneously the differences in farm structure and profitability between the different farm types are recorded.
Consequently the lucrativeness of switching to another farm type is indicated.
