LABOUR PRODUCTIVITY FACTORS INFLUENCING APPLE PICKING AND PHYSIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF THE OPPRESSIVENESS OF THAT WORK

Author:   P. Zaprzalek
Abstract:
This paper analyses significant factors influencing labour productivity during apple picking. In addition, the author attempts to evaluate apple picking work from the physiological point of view. Statistical evaluation of data surveys related to the total harvest, and of the data of workday photos and multimoment methods indicated that the efficiency of picking work is determined by the following factors: tree height, crown width, yield in kg per tree, sex of picker, close supervision of pickers and harvest weather conditions. The apple harvest is a job of average difficulty from the energy-use point of view, but it is burdensome work for the blood circulation system of the picker.
