Abstract:
Developing a horticultural firm means varying one or more essential elements of this very complex system, e.g. changing the marketing strategy or the production program.
Planning this development (long-range planning) is a time-consuming process of problem solving.
It is also a process of understanding special conditions and possibilities the firm has in its complex and uncertain situation.
For successful supporting, this kind of planning process, creativity and perception of new formations have to be stimulated.
The author developed a model for understanding the planning process that takes place in the manager's mind.
Based on this model, a planner's manual was designed, including instructions and forms to be presented here with examples and explanations.
