Abstract:
A simple air sampling technique is described for analytical purposes.
By means of a commercial vacuum pump a stainless steel cylinder of one liter is made free of air at room temperature.
Thereafter the sampling container is cooled down to -196°C. In this way it can be filled with about 20 liter air from any environment.
When the container is warmed up to room temperature the air can be analysed in a quantitative and reproducible manner for ethylene and carbondioxide, using our analytical technique previously described (De Greef et al., 1976 ; De Greef and De Proft, 1978).
