SYSTEMSCHUTZ D FOR ORNAMENTALS IN HYDROCULTURE

Author:   P. Kinzel
Abstract:
SYSTEMSCHUTZ D is a systemically working oxime carbamate containing the active ingredient Butocarboxim. Added to the nutrient solution in hydro-culture containers, sucking pests on plants are controlled without harming the environment. The favourable toxicological data allow the utilization in private households.

SYSTEMSCHUTZ D shows its best efficiency against pests belonging to the Aphididae and Thysanoptera. A quick distribution of the product within the plant results in a dependable control of these pests only 2 to 3 days after application. New infestations are prevented for weeks if the active ingredient level in the plant tissue is maintained. A significant activity was also observed against pests such as mealybugs, spider mites and whiteflies.

Experiments proved a strong inhibition of the pest population growth if the insecticide is deposited in the plants prior to the first appearance of the pest. Since the consumer can easily overlook a forthcoming pest, it seems reasonable and justified to provide the hydroculture container with the liquid insecticide already at the initial planting. Due to its excellent compatibility to the most important ornamentals, even continued applications with SYSTEMSCHUTZ D can be recommended.
