Abstract:
The effect of temperature, post maturation, and of the stage of fruit ripeness on the germination process of seeds of Solanum laciniatum was investigated.
For all studies, the seeds were placed in a thermostat with natural light, and the germination of seeds was counted from the 24th day after sowing.
The investigations revealed that 28°C was the most favourable germination temperature as regards both, speed (31 days) and rate (92 %) of germination.
Not any differences between the ripening stages of the fruits were obtained.
But post matured seeds within the fruit started germinating earlier than those which had been isolated and stored at room temperature.
Studies have been undertaken at the Chair of Vegetable Crops Science, Technical University of Munich, Germany, FR.
