Abstract:
Elongational growth of tulip stalks, excised from uncooled and cooled bulbs, cultured in an inverted position and stimulated by IAA at conc. 10 mg/l was inhibited by application of ABA at conc. 10 and 50 mg/l to the MS medium.
The inhibitory effect of ABA on stalk growth was higher in explants isolated from uncooled than from cooled bulbs.
The role of endogenous auxin and ABA in natural regulation of dormancy and stalk growth in tulips is discussed.
