BULB FORMATION IN THE LONG DAY PLANT ALLIUM CEPA L.: THE EFFECT OF SIMULTANEOUS IRRADIATIONS WITH RED AND FAR RED LIGHT

Author:   B. Lercari
Abstract:
Varying ratios of [Pfr]/[P] were established, during a 4 hour (10–14 h) interruption of the light portion of the photoperiod by giving mixtures of red and far-red light. The intensity of the far-red light was kept constant and the intensity of the red light was varied. It was found that there was an irradiance ratio of these two waveband which leads to an higher bulbing response in onion plants.
