Seed propagation and micropropagation of Lilium fargesii

Abstract:
Green lily (Lilium fargesii) is an endemic rare species in China, which seldom distributed in Mts. Qinling and Bashan, with narrow distribution and scarce population. The seed germination rate is 13.3%, which is not affected by storage temperature significantly. Meanwhile, the plug germination rate is 2.7%, which is probably limited to the maturity of seeds themself. The differentiation rate of bulb scales from different populations has a huge range on the same medium. The orthogonal test shows that the MS and sucrose concentration were the main factors that affect bulblet expansion, and the optimal medium is MS + 60 g L‑1 sucrose. There is no significant effect with PP333. The germination rate of in vitro bulbet is only 14.0% and the survival rate is 13% after one winter in Beijing outdoors.
