INVESTIGATIONS ON OPTIMUM TREES DENSITY IN APRICOT ORCHARDS

Authors:   A. BUNEA, G.H. MÜLER, V. COCIU, N. BURLOI, P.R. IONESCU, N. PATRU
Abstract:
The modern, high density system of management of apricot trees requires the desired early production (1—2 years earlier than in standard orchards), profitable high yields (50—80% higher than in standard orchards) and early returns of the investment.

In order to establish the optimum trees density in high density apricot orchards field experiments with different trees densities ranging from 277—333 trees/ha to 3333 trees/ha (Table 1) were organized at the following Research Stations: Oradea, Greaca, Baneasa — Bucuresti and Constanta during 1975—1978.
