SOME RESULTS OF SELECTION FOR IMPROVEMENT OF ECONOMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL PECULIARITIES OF APRICOT |

| Abstract:
One of the ways of apricot productivity increase is substitution of the existing assortment for cultivars resistant to sharp temperature fluctuations. As a result of the selection work of many years new yearly fruiting apricot cultivars (‘Melitopolskij rannij’, ‘Melitopolskij pozdnij’, ‘Sakharistyj’, ‘Zar'anyj’, ‘Zaporozhec’, and others) of different and successive dates of ripening with high quality fruit for general use, with heightened resistance of generative buds were created at the Ukrainian Irrigated Horticulture Research Institute. To obtain very early cultivars, we use besides hybridization new methods in the selection work (ionizing radiation and supermutagens). | |
