ISHS Acta Horticulturae 121: VII Symposium on Apricot Culture and Decline

THE EFFECT OF INTER-ROOTSTOCKS ON THE CONTENT AND SEASONAL CHANGES OF MINOR ELEMENTS, ZN, MN, FE, CU AND B IN THE LEAVES OF APRICOT CV. HUNGARIAN BEST

Authors:   S.A. PAUNOVIC, M. BOJIC
Abstract:
More than 30 years Fruit Research Institute at Cacak have employed rootstocks and interrootstocks study for apricot cultivars as aids theirs relationship to apricot decline (Paunovic, 1956, 1968 a, b, c, e., 1970, 1973 a. b; 1975, 1977 a. b; 1978, Paunovic et al., 1968 d, 1977 c; Paunovic and Kapetanovic, 1980). Within the mentioned have been included the study of behaviour of apricot cv. Hungarian Best budded on different interstocks and its on rootstock Prunus cerasifera var Myrobalan relating to influences of interstocks on the seasonal changes of ion of Zn, Mn, Fe, Cu and B during the vegetative period.

The results of this work should confirm the value of some recommended interstocks for commercial production or to discover within them some new properties.

In Yugoslavia has been studied the change in microelement content in apricot wood-branches during the rest period (Jovanovic et al., 1978), but some similar investigation as ours we have not found, except some fragmentary data for apricots (Andersen, 1932; Fitzpatrick and Woodbridge, 1941; Bullock and Benson, 1948; Woodbridge, 1954: Kemp, 1959, Branton et al., 1961, Lilleland and Mc Collam, 1961; Benson et al., 1966; Lèece, 1976) which are very suitable.
