ISHS Acta Horticulturae 120: Symposium on Growth Regulators in Fruit Production

NEW CHEMICAL APPROACHES TO THE CONTROL OF FRUIT TREE FORM AND SIZE

Author:   J.D. Quinlan
Abstract:
Recent investigations have shown new growth regulators to have potential for use at all stages of tree development. Chemical treatment to improve the branching of nursery trees resulted in better flowering and cropping in the early years. Cropping was also improved by application of branching agents during the early orchard years. A new growth regulator showed promise for controlling shoot growth on cropping trees without adversely affecting fruit size.
