Abstract:
As member of the Czechoslovak Organizational Committee of this meeting, in name of my Czechoslovak collaborators, I would like to welcome all of you who have come here to take part in this Symposium on Apricots and Apricot Culture.
We are especially happy to welcome the Chairman of the International Working Group for Apricots and Apricot Culture of the International Society for Horticultiral Science.
Prof.
S. Paunovic, the Secretary of this Group Prof.
G. Morvan and member of this Group Prof.
Venjaminov.
I welcome the representatives of the Soviet Union who form the greatest group of scientists at this meeting.
I welcome the representatives of Yugoslavia, France, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, and last but not least the Czechoslovak participants, specialists from various organizations.
Excuse, please, that the organization was not perfect, but it was not our fault.
After certain troubles in October 1965, it seemed that the Symposium would not be realized.
But the understanding of the University of Agriculture in Brno rescued the situation.
I would like to thank the Rector Prof.
Vyskot, Prof. Štambera, Doc.
Kraus and our working members Doc.
Vávra, Ing.
Vachun and Ing.
Goliáš for their activity.
We have a rich program at our Symposium.
The papers promise high scientific level.
We all wish our meeting to be successful.
I cannot finish, however, without wishing you a very pleasant sojourn in our country, a friendly co-operation and a good weather as well.
We shall try to make you feel at home in Czechoslovakia.
I open the Symposium.
