Abstract:
In a greenhouse were cultivated at a suction tension of -60 mb, -140 mb, -220 mg and -300 mb tomatoes, head lettuce and radish, and gherkins at -60 mb, -100 mb, -140 mb and -180 mb.
The water was transported through Twin-Wall-tubes (tomatoes and gherkins 30 cm dripper distance, head lettuce and radish 10 cm dripper distance). Soil moisture was regulated by tension switchers.
The suction tension was measured at ca 15 cm depth, directly below the drain outlet from the Twin-Wall-tube.
Together with watering, liquid fertilizer dressing was applied.
Per water application and water outlet a dosage of about 0.3 l was applied for radish and head lettuce, about 0.9 l for tomatoes and ca 1.1 l for gherkins.
The highest yields were obtained for tomatoes, head lettuce and radishes at suction tension between -60 mb and -140 mb and for gherkins between -60 mb and -100 mb.
Decreasing yields were registered in case the suction tension increased.
The water consumption per kg yield for the 4 vegetable species was the highest at a suction tension of -60 mb (radish 16.8 l/kg, head lettuce 24.6 l/kg, tomatoes 33.6 l/kg, gherkins 14.2 l/kg) and the lowest at -300 mg (radish 7.7 l/kg, head lettuce 14.4 l/kg, tomatoes 21.9 l/kg and gherkins 8.8 l/kg).
