ISHS Acta Horticulturae 115: Symposium on More Profitable Use of Energy in Protected Cultivation

THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON WINTER PRODUCTION OF 'SONIA' AND 'ILONA' ROSES IN DUTCH GLASSHOUSES

Author:   G.A. van den Berg
Abstract:
Rosahybrida L. cvs. 'Sonia' and 'Ilona' were submitted to different temperature regimes for three successive winters, beginning with 1977–1978. Equations were fit for temperature influence on total yield and time of development. The weight and length showed maxima for temperature. A difference in rate of budbreak was found between 'Sonia' and 'Ilona' roses. Different combinations of day/night temperatures, with the same average 24 hour temperature, had a small influence on yield but not on weight and stemlength.
