ISHS Acta Horticulturae 115: Symposium on More Profitable Use of Energy in Protected Cultivation

ESTIMATION OF ENERGY REQUIREMENT FOR EVAPORATION IN GREENHOUSES

Author:   C. Stanghellini
Abstract:
A model to evaluate hourly evapotranspiration of a greenhouse crop was set up. The model is based on a combination equation for potential evapotranspiration; i.e. greenhouse evapotranspiration is related both to net available energy and to vapour pressure deficit, coupled with a function of air movement. Results were compared with total day- and night-time experimental evapotranspiration data of a greenhouse tomato crop for a whole spring growing season. A very good agreement between observed and evaluated values was found.
