ISHS Acta Horticulturae 115: Symposium on More Profitable Use of Energy in Protected Cultivation

HEATING OF GREENHOUSES WITH FULL EXPLOITATION OF HEAT CONTENT FROM THERMAL WATER

Authors:   J. Karai, S. Nagy
Abstract:
The large amount of thermal water developed in Hungary provides the possibility to heat greenhouses with thermal energy.

The difficulty of heating with thermal water is, that the warm water supplied by the well has to be utilized with the highest efficiency, because the unused heat runs off with the water.

To increase the energy utilization, on open gurgle typ radiator system consisting of a plasticcurtain is proposed, which can be placed on the northern, eastern and western walls. Applying this kind of heating the therminal water with an inlet temperature of 80 °C, this reaching a 30 % increase regarding energy utilization, compared to a 80/60 system.

The gurgle typ radiator decreases the investment costs, can be used as heating and cooling wall respectively and - last but not least - improves the humidity of the air in the greenhouse.
