Abstract:
Efficiency of boiler operation can be increased by the use of modular boilers and by the fitting of automatic flue dampers and in the case of gas-fired boilers by the fitting of flue gas condensers.
In the United Kingdom coal is an economic alternative to oil and gas as a boiler fuel.
Equipment available and current developments are discussed.
Other alternative fuels are reviewed.
