Moler disease of shallot caused by Fusarium spp. is the most frequent disease found in Indonesia especially in the wet land.
The disease is soil borne and since bulb seed is used as planting materials the disease is also seed borne.
This research objective is to study the effectiveness of various bulb treatment including hot water treatment, biofertilizer, and fungicide on four shallot cultivars against Fusarium spp. infection.
This research was done in the greenhouse with Complete Random Design (CRD) of two factors.
There are four cultivars 'Tiron', 'Crok', 'Trisula', and 'Kuning', and eight treatments of bulb shallot with three repetitions.
The treatments are bulb submerging in aquadest as positive control with Fusarium sp. inoculation by soil dreching of conidial suspension and negative control without Fusarium sp. inoculation, bulb submerging in hot water at 45 and 50°C, each for 15 and 30 min., bulb submerging in fungicide, and the last is submerging in diluted biofertilizer. 'Kuning' cultivar is the most susceptible followed by 'Crok', and 'Trisula', respectively. 'Tiron' cultivar, on the other hand was found without any infection on all treatments including that of without any bulb treatment.
The effective heat treatment was found on the treatment of 45°C for 30 min. and the heat treatments of 45-50°C did not affect the seed sprouting and the growth.
