Abstract:
In many wine-producing areas of Italy there are needs to improve vintage quality and to reduce labour and costs.
Training systems and pruning are the most powerful tools to meet both these requirements, since it is necessary both to achieve the maximum potential plant productivity and to mechanize the most time-consuming operations, namely harvest and pruning.
The Italian experiences in remodelling traditional vineyards and in developing new models are presented.
