Abstract:
Since the 1960's, primocane control of red raspberries with dinoseb has been an established commercial practice based on research in British Columbia, Washington and Oregon.
This paper discusses the origin of the practice, the pertinent research on rates, frequency, additives, cultivar response and physiological effects of the treatment on the red raspberry plant.
The practice is widely used in the Pacific Northwest but has recently caused considerable concern because of failure to relate use to age and vigor of the plant.
