Abstract:
The virus identification is based mostly on the host range, symptom expression, virus morphology and on some characteristics of the purified virus preparation.
In practice the first goal is to place the isolated virus into one of the morphological groups.
The next steps are the clearing up the relationships within the group, then the nameing of the virus or virus strain.
In connection with the last topics some examples from six virusgroups are discussed.
