Abstract:
Nitrogen, calcium, and boron are required for successful forcing of bulbous iris cv.
Ideal in solution culture.
Nitrogen deficiency symptoms include leaf chlorosis, stunting, and flower bud abortion.
Plants severely deficient in calcium do not form a full complement of leaves, or a flower, and exhibit very chlorotic foliage.
Flower abortion and other floral abnormalities are seen with intermediate levels of calcium deficiency.
Boron deficiency results in leaf flecking, leaf and flower abnormalities, and stunting.
The critical concentrations for nitrogen, calcium, and boron are approximately 1.6%, 0.36%, and 25 ppm, respectively.
