Abstract:
A field trial was conducted at Regional Entomology Research Unit, Bapatla during August and September 1978 to find out the most effective and economic insecticide against cashew leaf thrips, Rhipiphorothrips cruentatus H. Sprays of phosalone and dimethoate at 0.05 per cent were found to be highly effective in the control of the pest even upto 15 days after spraying.
Quinalphos at 0.05 per cent and malathion at 0.1 per cent gave more than 99 per cent mortality of the pest, 24 hours after treatment but, failed to protect the crop for more than a week.
Sprays of other insecticides viz., BHC 0.1 per cent, endosulfan 0.05 per cent, chlorpyrifos 0.05 per cent were not effective in controlling the pest.
Spraying with phosalone or dimethoate at 0.05 per cent is thus the most effective and economic control measure for cashew leaf thrips R. cruentatus, H.
