ISHS Acta Horticulturae 106: Symposium on Computers in Greenhouse Climate Control

SIMULATION OF THE EFFECT OF STORAGE CHARACTERISTICS UPON THE DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF THE FLUID-ROOF SOLAR GREENHOUSE

Authors:   J. Damagnez, C.H.M. Van Bavel, E.J. Sadler, M.P. Chouanière
Abstract:
In a fluid roof solar greenhouse radiant energy is collected in the daytime and dissipated at night by the entire roof. A numerical analysis of the energetics and water balance as well as the influence of soil storage has already been given. This paper presents the effect of the use of two kinds of water storage, a 200 l/m2 reservoir and a underground water storage for meteorological datas of three typical days in Avignon (winter, cold early spring, summer). An optimization of the thermal resistance of the heat exchangor with underground water is at first reported. Daily variation of roof, leaf and air temperature as well as exchange fluxes between greenhouse and external environment are detailed when an auxiliary heating is working or not. In comparison with a normal glasshouse considerable savings in heating and ventilation requirements as well as a best control on leaf temperature, are indicated. The underground water system is a kind of long term storage and improve a best regulation on temperature range as well in winter as in summer.
