ISHS Acta Horticulturae 106: Symposium on Computers in Greenhouse Climate Control

A PLANT PRODUCTION MODEL TO OPTIMIZE TEMPERATURE IN GREENHOUSES ON THE BASE OF ECOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICAL DATA

Authors:   H. Krug, H.-P. Liebig
Abstract:
A production model has been developed to quantify the ecological - technical - economical system plant production in greenhouses. Submodels are a habitat model, a ---------- phenomenological growth model and an economical model.

The habitat submodel describes the climatic conditions inside the greenhouses as a function of outdoor climatic conditions, climate conditioning techniques and the interaction of these factors with the plant population.

With the growth model the reactions of the plants to temperature and radiation have been determined. To obtain the basic data 10 vegetable species were planted or sown at different times and grown with different set points for the heating system. The time course of growth --------- has been determined by successive harvestings and described by growth functions. Mean growth rates for the whole growth period were related to radiation, temperature and a time factor.
