Abstract:
A study on the somatic chromosome number (2n) of 17 Thai native Impatiens species was conducted.
It was found that the 2n numbers of Impatiens species are: I. chinensis = 16, I. daraneenae = 34, I. duclouxii = 16, I. garrettii = 14, I. longiloba = 18, I. mengtzeana = 16, I. mirabilis = 30, I. nalampoonii = 32, I. namkatensis = 20, I. parishii = 34, I. psittaciana = 34, I. santisukii = 10, I. sirindhorniae = 32, I. spectabilis = 32, I. sp. nov. ‘Thunbergioides’ = 32, I. aff.
Toppinii Dunn. = 16 and I. violaeflora = 12. RAPD markers were also used to determine genetic diversity of these species.
