THE HISTORY OF TOMATO PRODUCTION FOR INDUSTRY IN SOUTH AMERICA

Abstract:
Brazil, Argentina and Chile are the most important of tomato producers in South America. Although their yield per ha are low comparing with other important countries, there is tendency to increase both area production and yield per area by changing varieties, better disease and insect control, and better crop management.

There are little differences between South America crops and Europe and U.S.A. crops in general means, but some characteristics can be formal and they consequences of local problems.
